The Alabama High School Graduation Exam's purpose is to assess students' mastery of content defined as fundamental, and is a requirement for receipt of an Alabama high school diploma. This exam covers the subjects of language, mathematics, reading, science, and social studies. Although this exam is usually offered to 10th-12th graders, LeFlore allows any 9th grade freshman that has passed Biology I and Algebra I, received credit for these courses, and has not taken any part of the graduation exam, to take the Math and/or the Science part of the AHSGE. Tutoring for the 2009 AHSGE has begun and ends September 11, 2009. The AHSGE is broken into two term test dates. The first term has two tiers for testing; the first set of testing dates will be September 21-25, 2009 and the second set of testing dates will be December 7-11, 2009. The second term which has one tier will offer the exam March 1-5, 2010. Parents please help us in getting your child, our student prepared to take these exams. These exams may be taken until all subjects are passed, though we promote strong study habits so that our Rattlers would pass all sections the first time.
