Bio

     Major Burch started his career in the Army by enlisting in the Alabama Army National Guard with Company B, 20th Special Forces Group in Mobile, Alabama. After serving a few years with the 20th Group as a combat medic, he transferred to the 129th Medical Company (Clearing) as a Cadet Officer (CTLT), while enrolled in ROTC at the University of South Alabama. Upon graduation, he attended the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was assigned as a Platoon Leader with 1/70th Armor Regiment at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was then assigned as a Support Platoon Leader in 1/66 Armor and then the Assistant S-3 in the 502 FSB at Fort Hood, Texas.   He then attended the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course at Fort Lee, Virginia. Afterwards, he was assigned as the Company Commander for Company A, 1st Battalion 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.   While stationed in Korea, he was the 2nd Infantry Division’s Material Officer at Camp Red Cloud in Uijongbu, Korea.   Back in the states, he served as the Logistics Officer for the 3/348th CS/CSS Regiment. He then attended the Force Management Officers Course at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and was redeployed to Camp Casey in Tongduchon, Korea as the 2nd Infantry Divisions Chief of G-3 Force Integration. After this assignment, he was assigned as a Force Modernization Officer with the G-37 Staff in 8th Army Headquarters Yongsan Garrison, Korea.   Upon returning from the Republic of Korea, he was assigned as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 3/348th Regiment at Camp Blanding, Florida until retirement in November 2008. Major Burch attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia, Combat Medic Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Special Forces Training Phase 1 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Nuclear Biological Chemical Warfare (NBC) School at Fort Polk, Louisiana and Combined Services Staff School (CAS3) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Alabama and his MBA from Columbia Southern University. Major Burch taught at Columbia H.S. in Lake City, Florida. From 2008-2010, at Greenville H.S. in Greenville, Alabama from 2010-2013 and started teaching at LeFlore H.S. on March 1, 2013. He is married to the former Lori Carpenter of Mobile, Alabama and they have three children, Joshua, Mary, and Lillian.
